Privacy Policy

Overview

WAConnect ("we", "our", or "us") is a Chrome extension that lets you send personalized bulk messages via WhatsApp Web. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

We built WAConnect with privacy as a core principle. The people you message, your message content, your CSV files, and any media never leave your device — they are processed entirely within your browser and WhatsApp Web, and are never sent to our servers.

To sign you in, sync your settings, link your account, and improve the product, we do collect a limited amount of account and diagnostic data, which is described in full below.

Short version: The contacts you message, your message text, and your uploaded files stay in your browser and never reach our servers. We do collect your Google account details, the WhatsApp number you use with the extension, your settings, and basic usage & diagnostic data in order to run the service. We never sell your data.

Data We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service. When you use WAConnect, the following is sent to and stored on our backend (operated on Firebase and Cloudflare):

  • Google Account info — your name, email address, profile photo, Google account identifier, and email-verified status, provided when you sign in with Google.
  • Your WhatsApp number — the phone number of the WhatsApp account you use with the extension, detected from WhatsApp Web and linked to your account so we can associate your usage with your account and provide support. This is your own number, not the numbers of people you message.
  • Send settings — your configured delay, batch size, and cooldown preferences, stored so they sync across devices.
  • Usage & diagnostic data — events describing how you use the extension: opening it and which buttons you interact with (including before you sign in), sign-in errors, editing your settings, uploading a CSV (we record the number of contacts loaded — never the file or the numbers in it), and running a campaign (we record aggregate counts such as how many recipients were included and how many messages succeeded or failed — never the recipients, message text, or media). We also record your extension version. This helps us understand adoption and diagnose problems. Where available, your WhatsApp number is included so we can link these events to your account.
  • Messages you send us — feedback and "contact us" messages you voluntarily submit, either from within the app or from the sign-in screen.

We do not collect, transmit, or store any of the following — these are processed only on your device:

  • The phone numbers or contacts you send messages to (recipients)
  • The content of the messages you send
  • CSV files you upload
  • Any media or attachments

How We Use It

  • Authentication — to identify your account and keep it secure.
  • Account linking & support — to associate your WhatsApp number with your account so we can provide support and recognize your usage.
  • Settings sync — to restore your preferences when you use the extension on a new device.
  • Product improvement & diagnostics — usage events and error logs help us measure adoption, understand where users get stuck, and fix bugs.
  • Responding to you — feedback and contact messages you submit help us fix bugs and prioritize features, and let us reply to you. They are never shared.

Data Sharing

  • We never sell your personal data to third parties.
  • We do not use your data for advertising.
  • We share data only with Firebase and Cloudflare as infrastructure sub-processors, solely to operate the service.
  • We may disclose data if required by law or to protect legal rights.

Data Retention

  • Account data (including your WhatsApp number) — retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request.
  • Settings — retained until you request deletion or uninstall the extension.
  • Usage & diagnostic data — retained for up to 12 months, then permanently deleted.
  • Feedback & contact messages — retained for up to 12 months, then permanently deleted.

Your Rights

Note: some usage & diagnostic events are recorded before sign-in and are not linked to your Google identity; where these include your WhatsApp number, we can locate and delete them on request.

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Correct — ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete — request deletion of all your data from our systems.
  • Withdraw consent — stop using the extension and request data removal at any time.

Children's Privacy

WAConnect is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Policy Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of WAConnect after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

For significant changes, we will notify you via the extension itself.
